The caring staff at Hackberry Creek Care Center can assess, enhance, and optimize a patient's ability to perform functional, everyday activities. Occupational therapy helps a person relearn everyday physical skills lost due to an illness or injury. Occupational therapy focuses on the activities of daily living—bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, eating, and housekeeping. Our goal is to help patients achieve independence with self-care tasks needed each day.
An occupational therapist evaluates a patient to determine how that person’s thinking abilities, limb movement, coordination, mobility, balance, and vision are affecting his or her ability to perform daily tasks. Then, the therapist provides education and training which help make these activities easier to perform. The objective is to help the person live with as much independence as possible.
