Infusion refers to the introduction of fluid—other than blood—into a vein. Infusion therapy, also known as intravenous or “IV” therapy is a way to administer drugs or nutrients that cannot be taken by mouth. IV therapy is used for many reasons, such as dehydration, infection, pain management, nutritional deficiencies, renal failure, diabetes and cancer.
Our staff of healthcare professionals—nurses, dietician, and pharmacy—work with the resident’s doctor to provide care. Staff members educate the resident and family members about IV therapy. The staff monitors the resident’s condition during therapy, adjusting the treatment as needed.
